“Nobody ever wins a fight”. This quote is from Dalton (played by Patrick Swayze) in the most epic bar fighter and bouncer wet dream movie called Road House. He couldn’t have been more wrong with his statement though because there is always a winner in every fight including fights that occur within the video game realm. McKinney is an agency that saw a way to create an awesome video game (The Last Barfighter) and developed a way to rub every victory into your opponents face.
Arkeg made some headlines after they went on Shark Tank and got some pretty quick PR by being on there. The only problem is that they simply built a keg into the arcade machine but didn’t bother actually incorporating it into the actual game. It was basically an overhyped fridge (one that we still wish we could actually own). Beercade took it to another level though and made sure that in order to drink, you better win. The idea is that the winner of Beercade get’s rewarded with a nice cold tasty beverage. The McKinney website sums it up the best with the term, “gloat and guzzle”. The game itself is a fun little button masher which means even the amateur gamer is able to play.
Unfortunately, since this was just a creation by an agency, we don’t have pricing or purchase availability. I’m sure that this creation would be a pretty penny and definitely something that will require the buyer to have some hefty pockets. There could be some very good variations of this gadget if it is done right with different video games incorporating the drinking aspect. Imagine if you played Mortal Kombat and every time you landed a punch, you got a shot of beer placed into your cup. Whether you are playing The Last Barfighter or whatever other games they come up with, this is one arcade game that will have all participants floored by the end of the night.
