So our month of watch features continues and we’ve found a pretty awesome watch with this most recent review. The company that sent us over a demo of their watch is Curtis & Co and they make very stylish and sophisticated watches that are for the more high end watch wearer. The company was started by Curtis Wong who was a big timer in the magazine publishing world and was inspired in his travels to Europe and the varying styles of watches that he saw. He was a watch enthusiast that began collecting pieces from some of the biggest names in the industry but noting the various areas that they could have made the watch better. That mentality really showed through when Curtis began to create his timepieces as they were meticulously constructed to fill the gaps other watch makers had missed. When we picked up our demo, we saw that immediately by the quality of the watch and the stylish touches made from the band, to the casing, all the way down to intricate details of the dial.
The first thing we noticed about the Big Time World watch was the incredible detail and attention obviously taken with the construction of the watch face itself. The striking red face of our particular watch really was the first thing you noticed that set the watch apart from others out there. Curtis & Co isn’t afraid to use bold colors but done in a way that contributes to the high end feel of their watches. You can see on some of the close up shots we did of the watch face that there are intricate lines throughout the three different dials on the watch as well as an even more finite detail of design to each dial itself. We also noticed immediately that Curtis & Co does a great job of branding their watch but not making that brand become obnoxious. Even on the silicon band option (something we will touch on later) that has Curtis & Co branded in big letters across it, they only did a raised texture to it which made it very subtle and tasteful. People will know that you’re wearing a Curtis & Co watch without you having to tell them (but also not having the design obnoxiously throw it in their face.
The thing we immediately fell in love with was the fact that you are given the option to have a silicone strap (colored to fit the watch face) as well as a metal band option too. This adds a dynamic to the watch that takes it from being a watch for certain occasions to having a look that works for all occasions. The option they provide you with makes this watch an everyday wear (if that’s what you like). The band is super easy to swap out as Curtis & Co have a great pin release mechanism that makes it easy for the normal person to switch them in and out (and avoid going to a jeweler every time to have it done). The options that come with their other collections allow you to not only find a particular style you like but also a particular size you prefer too. They had options for those that liked the over sized watch faces (57mm) to a middle option (50mm) all the way down to your 42mm size (which we love). You also have a ton of watch face and band colors (rose gold, black stainless steel, stainless steel, etc.).
Curtis & Co has figured out how to produce an extremely high quality watch while still being affordable in the realm of high end watches. The options that they provide you with on the bands make the watch work in a variety of different scenarios (business, casual, black tie) and can transform the entire look and feel of the watch instantly. That alone is something you don’t get an option with on most watches out of the box. The detail around the watch face and the ability to track three different global time zones is great (especially for those traveling or working in multiple time zones). The ability to also change those bands out with their very clever (and easy) pin approach also made the watch a step above most. Finally, the look of the watch is so different from anything out there that it will get people to turn and ask, “where did you get that watch?”. When you can have a watch that commands that level of style, you know you’ve found a winner. Click here to find out more about Curtis & Co watches.
