Do you have room for a desk that when closed up will only measure 27 x 44 x 4 inches in the amount of space it will take up? Figured you did even if you are like any other single guy living in a tiny one bedroom apartment. Do you know what the Interior Innovation Award is? No? Neither do we but it sounds pretty prestigious and this awesome and compact desk took that award home for 2012.
The fold down “work slab” (that’s our terminology) is large enough to comfortably house a 17 inch laptop with room to spare. If you notice from the picture, there are also other convenient little shelves that can house speakers if necessary. The thing we liked the most about the Flatmate compact desk is how they actually provided a power outlet that you can plug your laptop into without having to have the annoying wire draped across the floor to the nearest outlet. Simply plug it in and you have a few different outlets to plug in chargers and the battery for your laptop.
There is also a glare free lighting even included with this desk and they made sure to use every little bit of space including the base which transforms into an area for storage. The design of this nifty desk was brought to us by Michael Hilgers and it looks like he really hit a home run with this design. The price of this desk still hasn’t been released but we are hoping to find out after we contact the distributor. Hopefully it will be inexpensive to match the compacted convenience of the design. It apparently has a few different colors to choose from once it does become available for purchase and we tried to show some more photos to give our users a better idea all the different features.
