The Gadgets 4 Guys team decided to get out of the office for a little bit and away from the terrible Kansas weather. We decided to start a new series where we occasionally feature a resort that we’ve had the opportunity to go to. Our first featured resort is the Grand Oasis Viva located in beautiful Cancun, Mexico. We break it down into a few different key areas that we see being the most important to people when they go on vacation.
If you are going to be staying somewhere for days on end, it is important to know if the room is up to par. Grand Oasis Viva was definitely up to par and you could tell the minute you walked into the room. Our room was very modern in a decor and also very clean (which is pretty important if you’ve ever stayed in a disgusting room). We walked out onto the patio and were greeted with our very own personal whirlpool/hot tub followed by our own private patio. Out there, you had a bunch of different “beach beds” (pictured) placed on the shared patio that looked over the pool and beach. It was an amazing view and we couldn’t have been happier with the room setup.
The Pool and Beach
This is the most important thing that you look at when considering a vacation to a place that doesn’t have the beach or beautiful sand on a daily basis (KANSAS!). The first thing we noticed was just how close the resort was to the actual beach was really nice as some resorts can put you (what feels like) miles away from the actual beach. Nobody wants to work when on vacation and that includes working out. The beach was very clean and the water was very blue. It wasn’t overly busy but if you wanted a decent spot or to get in on the beach volleyball games, we recommend getting out earlier rather than later. Plus, who wants to be sleeping in super late when you have the beautiful weather and beach waiting for you?
Bars and Nightlife
The single advantage for people traveling without kids is to be at a resort that is adults only. If you don’t have kids or escaping your own for a few days, hearing a screaming kid going nuts during dinner isn’t contributing to that vacation vibe. Luckily, the Grand Oasis Viva is a an adults only resort so you won’t have to worry about that. It also means that the entertainment and nightlife are geared for adults and we saw that on display in the main nightclub. There were numerous performances and even some audience participation skits that were very entertaining and that main nightclub stayed open late (making it easy to get a drink late at night). The shows were always great but sometimes we wished that there had a been a bigger stage with a little bit bigger production.
Overall, we loved the Grand Oasis Viva all-inclusive resort. The food was legitimate (although make sure you schedule all of your dinners as early as possible) and the entertainment was solid. The beach was beautiful and the rooms made you feel right at home. Click here to go see pricing and when to schedule your trip to Grand Oasis!
