One of the great things about Super Bowl Sunday is that you get to see all of these different types of fun and innovative gadgets and inventions from food to tailgate items. Who doesn’t remember the incredible car that was made out of nachos and other game day snacks that was brought out on The Man Show? It was a high point for all of man inventions out there but Becky Stern has upped the ante. Becky and the peeps over at Adafruit decided to give you some game day decorations for the big game.
You can see the details that Adafruit put together in the how-to video on how to make this amazing glowing football helmet. These decorations shouldn’t be limited to just the teams in the Super Bowl though. Make sure you branch out and make some glowing helmets to represent your team that didn’t make it to the big game (we aren’t rubbing that in, we are all Kansas Chiefs fans in the Gadgets 4 Guys office). This DIY glowing football helmet would be the ultimate gadget to have on any man cave bar.
Becky does all of us a favor and actually shows you how to use Illustrator in order to create the outline for the light up part of the helmet. She also gives you information on how to use a vinyl cutter for this glowing helmet monstrosity. It isn’t the easiest DIY project out there but it becomes pretty rewarding when you have it completed. How far you decide to take the customization and creativity of this project is completely up to you. In the example that Becky provides, she actually uses a smaller helmet version but it would be cool to see a full size helmet converted into a glowing bar decoration. The video is only 6 minutes long but this DIY project will take you a bit longer. Check out the video below or go to the Adafruit YouTube channel and see the video there (or one of their several other DIY projects).
