Memorial weekend is finally here and what many consider the true beginning of summer. The good news? There is nothing but warm weather, swimsuits, lakes, and summer vacation trips ahead. The bad news? There is nothing but humidity, bugs, and seat belts that can give you 3rd degree burns ahead. We don’t pay attention to the latter though because we love this season. If you live anywhere that allows you to get out in nature a little bit, you’ll probably be making your way out in the next month or two and will likely need a way to see at nighttime. You might want to go old school and get a gas lantern which has it’s benefits but also has a few drawbacks like an open flame potentially starting a fire. You might also run out of gas in the lantern leaving you to stumble around in the darkness or not string your line (if you’re doing any night fishing). Why not try out the Goal Zero Lantern that solves all of the drawbacks of a gas lantern?
The Goal Zero Lantern is unique in that it can utilize solar panels to charge the lantern itself. If you encounter some cloudy days though, you can actually use the hand crank to charge the lantern. When you get the Goal Zero Lantern fully charged, it can actually run for 48 hours on low. You can adjust the brightness to maximize brightness and/or longevity of a single charge. There is also a USB plug in that allows you to also charge a smartphone or iPod. While we don’t encourage you to spend time outdoors playing on your smartphone, we like to listen to music more than anybody out there so having this charger available out in the woods is nice. If you have kids that want to have an indoor camp outs, this could be the safe alternative. Click here to buy the Goal Zero Lantern and for image source.
