One of the predicaments of the digital wired world is the problem of information overload. So much that it has begun to interfere with our driving causing the 5-0 to start enacting laws preventing all the idiots out there that can’t multitask from texting while driving. Unfortunately, just because legally we can’t check our phones while driving doesn’t mean people actually listen and nobody wants the village idiot to be trying to drive their Hummer and be checking emails at the same time.
LinkMe has tried to make reading messages from important people a little more easier by creating a “smart” wristband that has LED’s displaying messages across them. You can choose and select to have text messages or even the latest Justin Bieber tweet display across the LinkMe band. It is all functioning through a bluetooth connection with your smartphone which is how it is able to integrate with all of the different notifications. You can also “program” different people or messages with certain characters to quickly determine what kind of text message is coming though much more quickly. We hope that this can also quickly display the time because we wouldn’t want to double up on the bands around our wrist and look like a bunch of hippies.
The move to creating more smartphone integration into everyday things (including our homes) is creating more innovation everyday. We love seeing all of the new watch integration and eagerly await the iWatch sometime this year. LinkMe looks like it could be great digital accessory and hope that they have foreseen issues with iterations of updates to the mobile operating systems. Guys hold onto watches for years and that needs to be anticipated when doing anything that guys will be all over. They also make a pink LinkMe band for the ladies too. At the time of this article, the LinkMe KickStarter campaign is about 12% of the way to making their goal (and pushing out the product to millions).
Just be careful in what messages you allow to come through because the last thing you need is all of your coworkers to see the dirty text messages from your wife coming through.
