When somebody says the word skater to you, what immediately comes to mind? Van shoes? No, those were for posers. Jnco jeans? Nothing looked cooler than the jeans that were 10x too big. The heavy chain that attached to the walled was also one of the staples of every skater out there. You saw kids with the international sign for anarchy plastered all over their skateboard while most didn’t have a clue what it really meant (same with fraternity brothers and Chinese symbols for strength). Skaters were hated by business owners and often received their own signs tell them to stay off the premise (which in retrospect was really singling out a particular type of person). Skaters got a pretty bad rap as punks and people thought any kind of property destruction was done by those “punk skater kids” when it could have been any of us punk kids.
Fast forward to today. Skaters are still banned from just about everywhere but thanks to ambassadors like Rob Dyrdek, they now have more skate parks everywhere to safely use. Marbel is a company that didn’t see the skateboard as a simple recreational tool for fun but a possible new efficient way of transportation. They designed a very light weight but solidly constructed electric skateboard that can go upwards of ten miles on a single charge (which we were most impressed). Everybody always has the question about how fast can this electric skateboard go? You will be able to go up to 20 mph (with others claiming they’ve gone faster than that). There is a phone app that accompanies the Marble Electric Skateboard that will allow you to adjust the top speed of the board so you can keep yourself safe (or if you’re just a pansy). This isn’t a realistic option for those with a 30 mile commute but for others living in big cities, this is the perfect option. Just think: you won’t have to be stuck in traffic or ever worry about where you will chain a bike up with the Marbel Skateboard. Marbel has crushed their KickStarter campaign and appear to be a huge success. Click here for image source and where to find out more about Marbel.
