It is officially summer time. Gadgets 4 Guys is based out of Kansas and we have been worried we will get another freak snow storm but the temperature gauge finally hit 85 degrees. That tells us it is officially summer time which means that patios and decks need to officially be opened up along with pools everywhere. When the weather is a warm 70 degrees when the sun goes down, you can officially begin grilling and barbecuing. You buy all new patio furniture and new cushions to replace all of the sun damaged ones you had but then ruin it all by wheeling a red plastic cooler that doesn’t fit with anything else you have outdoors.
We had never even thought of a cooler stand for the patio but after coming across this DIY project we realized that this is something that everybody should have. If you have people over for any get together’s you wont want to have another until you have the covered cooler. There are a lot of different modifications you can make to this starting with the type of wood. The picture we used to feature it is actually made out of recycled barn wood but you can use pine or cedar if you think it would be better. Out of the very few DIY projects we have actually done ourselves, we probably recommend using cedar since it typically stands up a bit better to the elements. You can also place different types of handles on the cooler stand that range from brushed nickel to deer antlers. It can be as creative of a handle as you choose it to be. It will also need to have a draining spigot so you can get all of the water and regret out of it the next day. The most important aspect of a cooler stand is the bottle opener attached to it. You can go old school with the bottle opener and have it be a Coca-Cola one or a straight up beer brand one.
Get summer going and get it done right with the DIY Cooler Stand for the deck or patio. If you have an open weekend then you can knock this project out. Click here for image source and where to get plans.
