The world is a changin’. When it comes to the world of technology, we have seen an evolution begin that has extended beyond our traditional smartphones. We have jackets that now integrate controls for our mp3’s in them. Our watches can now tell us that we have new emails, a meeting, or even read our text messages directly from our wrist. Golfers can now purchase watches that utilize GPS coordinates and act like a caddy without providing a disappointing sigh every time you hit the ball into the rough. There are forks that will tell you when to stop eating and when to eat slower to try and improve your diet. We have glasses that can provide us with the ability to read text messages and just about anything else we can do on our phones.
Wearable technology is going to be the next big focus for the next decade. Samsung (along with AT&T) have brought us the next step in fitness bands with the Gear Fit. Gear Fit integrates with your Galaxy S5 and is able to track all of your fitness stats you need. The Gear Fit is meant to be a workout partner and not just something that tracks your workout statistics. You can set different goals of how many steps you need to take everyday and even has a built-in heart monitor to keep track of your ticker. When we did our demo, we got to see how the Gear Fit not only integrated well with the S Health app but also had some different control and alert functions that were an added benefit. You could view text alerts and actually read them on the Gear Fit and also control your media and music through the Gear Fit. That means if you have your music playing in the house, you won’t even have to pull out your phone in order to change the song or adjust volume which is great. The only drawbacks we saw were the band options the Gear Fit came in and also the lack of an app environment for developers to continue to expound on the functionality of the Gear Fit. Outside of those two items though, the Gear Fit was a very solid wearable and integrated well with the Galaxy S5. Click here for image source and where to buy.
