If you have flown on a plane relatively regularly, you have experienced one of the worst type of plane perpetrators: the over recliners. They might be male, female, old, young, nice or mean but they take the recline of their airplane seat to the extreme. Before you know it, you have a person’s head basically resting in your lap and aren’t able to use the tray. You have no way to fight back other than awkwardly asking the person in front of you to move their chair up. Every male in the Gadgets 4 Guys office is over the 6 foot mark which means plane rides can be very uncomfortable for us especially if we have somebody drop the chair into full recline.
So after all of that complaining, we managed to find a great gadget called the Knee Defender. This nifty little gadget is meant to be used on a plane and is currently approved by the FAA (surprisingly enough). It is rather simple in that it clips onto your tray once you can drop it down in flight and locks into place. You can decide how much the person in front of you can recline which will help you out if you just need that extra inch or two of leg room. You will have to move quick though because you have to beat them and get the tray down and place the gadget before they recline the seat. They have a patent for this nice little gadget and it has sparked a lot of different arguments. You have a lot of people upset that their recline ability is being limited (or completely taken away) and you have the army of tall people saying that this gadget should be allowed. We stated earlier this thing doesn’t violate any FAA regulations but it has had some airlines take action in not allowing the use of the Knee Defender. They also make the claim that the Knee Defender helps insure you can get good blood circulation going which is a major problem being on a long flight.
It is sad that in our modern world today we can’t count on general courtesy that people won’t fully recline their seats and screw your world up for four straight hours. The Knee Defender makes sure that the annoying little kid in front of you can’t do that and is a necessary travel gadget for anybody putting major miles week in and week out.
