It is the dead of summer which means the heat has officially hit us and hit us hard. You can’t move around outside without looking like Jack Black after running 10 miles at a dead sprint. As much as that heat can suck, it is always better to have the heat instead of two feet of snow but in order to enjoy the heat, you need to be able to cool yourself off. Traditionally, the answer to a cold drink that stays cold has recently been the plastic tumbler. We do love those clear plastic tumblers that have cute little insignia’s, logos, or letters but we’re not 100% sold on how well they work. It also seems that whenever we drop one of those plastic tumblers, the inside casing pops out and detaches from the outside making the tumbler useless.
We needed something that was more durable and something that could keep our drinks colder for longer. We made some new friends over at Yeti (we recently featured one of their coolers on our site) and these guys take pride in building quality products. They sent us a couple of demos for their Yeti Rambler Tumblers. They have 20 oz. and 30 oz. versions of the Ramblers and they were designed with stainless steel (instead of cheap plastic). The insides of the Tumbler actually have a double walled insulation to them which really helps with keeping your drink hot or cold for a lot longer. We did a very informal test and drank out of it for an entire day. The original ice cubes that we put into the Yeti Rambler were still there after 8 hours of filling/refilling it multiple times. The other thing that we really liked about the Yeti Tumbler was the fact that the cold of the drink wasn’t felt all that much while holding it. We really liked the clear plastic top so you can actually see the level of your drink without making the cup look cheap or inexpensive. Gadgets 4 Guys would recommend the 20 ounce Tumbler if you need an every day coffee drinker and the 30 ounce Tumbler for a weekend drinker that is looking to hold a lot of liquid and keep it cold. You could take our word for it or go by one yourself. It’s only $30 which isn’t much more than what you pay for those cheap plastic ones anyways!
